SCHOOL BOARD & ROE PETITION PACKETS

 

The first day to circulate petitions for the April 1, 2025 – Consolidated Election is: Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

  • First Day to File – Tuesday, November 12, 2024 (The Election Division Office is closed Monday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day)

  • Last Day to File –  Monday, November 18, 2024 (The Election Division Office will be open until 5:00 p.m. for filings)

Please Note: Prospective candidate filing materials (except for School Board & ROE Trustees) for the Consolidated Election may be printed from the appropriate links in the 2025 Candidate’s Guide or obtained from and are filed with the district office of the Unit of Government for which the office is sought.

As required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act, this form must be filed with the DeKalb County Clerk and a receipt issued. Candidates may file their statement by printing the form included in the petition packet above (also available separately). NOTE: Precinct committeepersons are not required to file a Statement of Economic Interests.

Objecting to Nominating Petitions

Nomination papers shall be deemed valid unless objections are filed in writing (an original and two copies). Objections to petitions of candidates for County-Wide Offices, County Board Members,  Precinct Committeemen,  School Board Members and Regional Office of Education are to be filed with the County Clerk. All other objections should be filed with the same office that the nominating petitions were filed. Objections are to be filed within five business days after the last day for the filing of nomination papers.  It is suggested that you check with the appropriate office as to the deadline, as Holiday hours are taken into consideration in determining the deadline.

Withdrawal of Candidacy

Per State Statute 10ILCS 5/10-7: Any person whose name has been presented as a candidate, including nonpartisan and independent candidates, may cause their name to be withdrawn from any such nomination by a request in writing.  The request should be received not later than the date for certification of candidates for the ballot.  The following form should be used for this purpose and filed with the office where the original nominating petitions were filed.
